San Francisco Coastline, Lakes, and Rivers

San Francisco's coastline boasts stunning scenery and beautiful wilderness. Renting an RV or campervan allows you to take a northern California road trip along the jagged cliffs and turquoise waters that stretch along America's most scenic highway, the Pacific Coast Highway , or into the majestic Sierra Nevada.

Starting your campervan road trip in San Francisco and heading south towards Los Angeles, you can drive through the many attractions of Big Sur . Here you'll discover one of the US's longest natural stretches of coastline. Be sure to stop in Monterey to explore tide pools and sunbathe like the seals who live in this area.

If you decide to head north, from San Francisco to Seattle , you'll encounter enchanting redwood forests, the Russian River, and the lush beaches of the Pacific Northwest. While if you decide to direct your campervan or RV east, you will lead to the outdoor mecca, Lake Tahoe . Whether you're swimming, hiking, or skiing, Lake Tahoe is an outdoor adventurist's dream.

Campgrounds Around San Francisco

With so much surrounding wilderness, it is extremely important to reserve a safe place where to stay and spend the night. It's always a good idea to call or reserve a spot ahead of time and make sure they can accommodate your specific campervan or RV according to its length and height.

Keep in mind that some campgrounds can get booked up to 6 months in advance, while some others do not accept reservations and practice the “first come, first served” rule. Make sure to get in touch or get all the information needed to be sure you will have a spot in your favorite campgrounds.
