Can I take a Class A campervan to all campsites?

Not always. Some older national parks, regional or state parks, and private campsites have length restrictions, usually 30, 35 or 40 feet (about 9.1, 10.7 or 12.2 m). Before booking a pitch, check the park's website or phone ahead to confirm they can accommodate your specific Campervan length. Pro tip: Many Class A travellers prefer staying at larger Campervan resorts, state park campsites, or wild camping (boondocking) on public land (e.g. national forests) where size restrictions are less common.

What if I've never driven a Campervan before?

No problem, plenty of first-timers rent Class A motorhomes. Here's what helps: Take your time. Drive more slowly than usual, especially when turning or changing lanes. Practice in an empty car park. Get comfortable with the size, turning radius, and reversing before hitting the road. Use your mirrors. Class A motorhomes have excellent visibility, but you'll rely on the wing mirrors more than a regular car. Plan your route. Avoid narrow city streets and low-clearance areas (bridges, tunnels, drive-throughs). Watch the tutorial videos. We have a library of how-to videos on driving, parking, and operating Class A systems. Most renters get the hang of it within the first hour. You've got this.

What is a Class A Campervan?

A Class A Campervan is a large, motorised vehicle built on a commercial bus or lorry chassis. Think of it as a studio flat that drives, complete with a full kitchen, bathroom, multiple beds and plenty of living space.

You'll recognise a Class A by its flat, bus-like front with a massive panoramic windscreen. The driver's and passenger's seats usually swivel round when you're parked, becoming part of the living area. Because they're built on heavy-duty chassis, Class A motorhomes offer the most interior space of any Campervan type.

These rigs are completely self-contained, meaning you don't need to hook up to campsite facilities every night. With large water tanks, powerful generators and on-board systems, you can park almost anywhere and still have running water, electricity and all the comforts of home.

Class A Campervan Hire Advantages

Why choose the biggest motorhome on the road? Here's what makes a Class A worth it:

Space for Everyone: If you're travelling with a large family or a group of friends, a Class A gives everyone room to breathe. No one's tripping over each other or fighting for the loo.

No Towing Required: Unlike a touring caravan, everything is in one unit. You don't need a heavy-duty tow vehicle to pull it, just hop in the driver's seat and go. When you get to your destination, your vehicle and your home are already there.

True Home Comfort: Full-size appliances. Real mattresses. Multiple living areas. A Class A doesn't just get you to your destination—it makes the journey comfortable. Some travellers even prefer staying in their Campervan to booking hotels.

Self-Sufficiency for Remote Adventures: With large water tanks and powerful generators, you can camp off-grid for days. Find a stunning spot in the wilderness and stay a while without worrying about hook-ups.

Panoramic Views on the Road: That massive front windscreen isn't just for show. Sitting high up with floor-to-ceiling glass turns every drives into a sightseeing experience. The Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountains, and Pacific coastline look even better from a Class A cockpit.
