Manchester
“. We hired an Indie Campers campervan, picking it up in Manchester and travelling north through Scotland and all the way to Orkney, before returning it in Edinburgh. The van itself was sufficiently clean and comfortable, and overall it did the job well for our trip. The gentleman who helped us at the Manchester pick-up was genuinely lovely — friendly, helpful and clearly doing his best. Unfortunately, he appeared to be the only person there and was expected to manage customers while also fixing problems with the vans before they could leave. In our case, the roller blinds weren’t working and needed attention before the van could be handed over. We had previously hired through Bunk Campers a few years ago, before it became part of Indie Campers, and the difference was noticeable. Our previous experience was better staffed, and both collection and return felt much more organised and professional. The return in Edinburgh was also a little frustrating. We had specifically been told that we needed to have the van back at 7:30am, so we made sure we were there on time, particularly as we had a flight to catch. However, nobody was there. We tried to get assistance but initially found ourselves dealing with an AI system, which told us to wait for a human. Someone eventually arrived at around 8am and he was very nice and the handover itself was straightforward. The issue wasn’t with him at all — it was simply stressful being required to arrive at 7:30am and then having nobody there for half an hour when we had a flight to catch. One add-on I definitely wouldn’t recommend is the BBQ. We paid extra for it expecting a reasonably usable camping BBQ. What we received was essentially a metal box around 30cm square with a grill that you place on the ground. I’ve never seen such a rudimentary BBQ, and it certainly didn’t feel worth paying extra for. Overall, we had a fantastic trip and the van was comfortable. The people we dealt with were friendly and helpful. Our main criticism is the staffing and organisation around the collection and return process. Compared with our previous experience with Bunk Campers, it felt noticeably less professional, which is a shame because the actual campervan experience was otherwise perfectly good.”
“Good van was perfect for what we needed for our trip through Lake Districts and Scotland. Had everything we needed which was handy being able to do all cooking etc. would rent again. ”
“Very handy with wide range of vans ”
“Easy pick up and drop off van was great for our needs, tour around Scotland we had an active camper which was not too big and could be parked easily in most car parks. It came with a few scrapes on the exterior but mostly everything worked as it should and it was comfortable. ”
