What's the fuel economy of a Class A campervan?

Class A motorhomes typically get 8-22.5 km per litre (MPG), depending on the size, weight, engine type, and driving conditions. Diesel engines usually get slightly better distance than gas engines. Yes, it's lower than a car or even a Class B campervan—but remember, you're driving your accommodation, too. Can I take a Class A campervan to all campgrounds?

Not always. Some older national parks, state parks, and private campgrounds have length restrictions, usually 30, 35, or 12.2 m maximum. Before booking a campsite, check the park's website or call ahead to confirm they can accommodate your specific campervan length. Pro tip: Many Class A travellers prefer staying at larger campervan resorts, state park campgrounds, or boondocking on public lands (BLM land, national forests) where size restrictions are less common.

What if I've never driven a campervan before?
