1. Comprehensive Campervan Insurance - Information for Hosts

Here at Indie Campers, we care about your needs. It is a legal requirement that your vehicle is insured whilst rented out. We know that many Insurers specifically exclude losses arising from renting out the vehicle.  In order that you have peace of mind we have partnered with Riverside Underwriting Limited to arrange comprehensive motor insurance and breakdown cover for your vehicle when rented out on the Indie Campers platform.

How does Riverside Work?

You do not have to worry because the process is simple and automatic. If your primary vehicle insurance does not cover your vehicle during a rental, we got you covered. Our insurance program arranged by Riverside is automatically activated when you confirm your booking and is valid during the entire rental period if the booking comes from Indie Campers Marketplace.

What is covered?

If your primary insurance does not cover any damages during renting your vehicle, our Travel Protection Program gets you covered.

• Loss – theft or attempted theft
• Damage – accident, malicious damage, fire, lighting, explosion.
• Third Party Liability – damage to another person’s vehicle, property or personal injury.

What is NOT included in the insurance?

• Repair or replacement of damaged windscreens
• Damage or loss to the vehicle and/or its accessories arising from theft while the keys were left in or on the vehicle, or the vehicle was unlocked.
• Liability, loss, or damage while the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
• Damages that accrued abroad during motor races, rallies, and similar competitions, as well as during training sessions or any other form of driving (including upgrading sessions) on motor vehicle racetracks.
• Liability, loss, or damage for any consequence of terrorism except where cover must be provided under Road Traffic Acts.
• Liability loss or damage for any consequence of war or hostilities.
• The excess on the policy.

Host Eligibility

• The owner is a private person and not a commercial business and the registered keeper of the campervan
• The vehicle is registered in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, or the Isle of Man, and it should have a valid MOT and tax paid.
• It should not weigh more than 3.5T.
• It should not have more than 7 seats.
• The minimum value of the vehicle is £1,500.
• The maximum value of the vehicle is £65,000.
• The maximum age of the vehicle is 20 years old.

How do I report a claim?

In the event of a claim the host should as soon as possible report the damage to the claim handlers on 03333 058120 quoting the certificate number that is shown on the insurance documentation.  If the damage renders the vehicle inoperative at the roadside the Traveler should call 01702 447878 for immediate assistance.  It is important that you report the claim as soon as possible.

Roadside Assistance – Powered by the AA

If the vehicle is not drivable the driver will get 24/7 assistance the benefits are:

• Roadside Assistance
• Home start
• National Recovery

The traveler should call 0800 420 420.  In the event that the vehicle is not repairable at the roadside you should pre-agree with the traveler where the vehicle is to be returned.

2. Comprehensive Campervan Insurance – Information for Travelers

We want to make sure that you enjoy your trip. Therefore, we have partnered with Riverside Underwriting Limited to provide you with the Indie Campers Travel Protection Program. With this partnership, Riverside arranges fully comprehensive motor insurance and roadside assistance to cover your entire rental when booked via the Indie Campers Platform.

Traveler Eligibility

You and any other named driver:

• Is aged between 26-75 years old.
• Have held a valid driving licence for a minimum of 3 years.
• The driving license must be valid within the UK and Northern Ireland. 

Driving record should not include in the last three years:

• 2 motor claims that were your fault
• Not been prosecuted in the country of residence by the relevant authorities for a serious driving offence such as dangerous or reckless driving
• Did not have a motor insurance policy cancelled or voided by an insurance company

In the past 5 years, any driver:

• Has not been disqualified from driving.

In case of an accident

If the vehicle is rendered undriveable please call the Insurer on 01702 447878 to organise recovery of the vehicle.  Please be aware that you are responsible for the policy excess.

In case of a mechanical breakdown

If the vehicle is not drivable you will get 24/7 assistance the benefits are:
