Campervan Rental Stuttgart

As the capital of Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart is probably the most important city in the region. It is also on the doorstep of the French region of Alsace, known for its fine wines. Stuttgart is also home to plenty of rolling hills, rich in vineyards. The city is proud of its wine and likes to celebrate its success throughout the year.

With around 600,000 residents, it is not a huge city, but a campervan rental in Stuttgart still has plenty to do when you visit. As a university city, Stuttgart tries to cater to its younger population and to get them involved. The Neckar River and its foothills are not only a prominent industrial hub, but they are also a great place to cool down in the summer. To rent a RV in Stuttgart and make the most of the summer, we recommend a pitch near the water.

Getting to Stuttgart

The southwest German city is very well connected to the rest of Germany and its European neighbors. From the French border town of Strasbourg (via the A5 & A8) it is around two hours by car. From Basel in Switzerland (also via the A5 & A8), the drive is around three hours. From Nuremberg (via the A6 & A81) and Munich (via the A8), the closest major cities in Germany, Stuttgart is just two and a half hours away.

Stuttgart boasts its own international airport. The flights tend to head to Europe’s most important cities. For a long-haul flight, however, you would need to transfer.

You will not need to be waiting long for public transport within the city center. It is also easy to travel around Stuttgart without getting out your car keys. You can even travel to the city from France and Switzerland by local train or bus. However, the train is the best option from other German cities.

Parking in Stuttgart

Stuttgart operates with different parking zones. Depending on the area you want to park in, you can pay to park from half an hour to several hours.

If you want to leave your vehicle in a multi-story car park, it is best to use the cheapest one in town, the “Parkhaus Schlossstraße” multi-story car park for €1.70 per hour. The Königsbau-Passagen APOCA underground car park is pretty hand with its central location. Here it costs €2.50 per hour.

You can only take advantage of free city-center parking on the weekends. However, it is always possible in the P+R car parks outside the city center. The largest P+R car parks are Sommerrain and Ruhbank, which take around ten minutes by public transport from the city center.
