There is no place in the world quite like coastal Jutland, and Horsens is the pearl of the fjord. Under the “nose” of the peninsula lies a mecca for nature adventurers. Experience the beauty of Horsens Fjord any way you like. Walk the Fjord Camino or enjoy the view from the comfort of your motorhome rental in Horsens. If you’re up for it, grab a paddle and kayak your way around the splendid marina. Take advantage of some of Western Denmark's finest museums, music, and cultural events in the Horsens city center.
Ask any Dane what Jutland has an abundance of. Right after they say dairy farms, they will say freeways. Denmark has about 30 freeways, and 20 of them are on the peninsula. Straight through the Danish/German border, the e45 freeway shoots a nearly straight line through Jutland right to Horsens.
Billund Airport is located only 53 km from Horsens, and Aarhus Airport is 91 km away. Flight time London-Billund is 1h 25 min; Los Angeles-Billund is 12h 25 min; New York is 10h; Toronto is 10h 5 min. Main airlines flying to Billund Airport include KLM, SAS, Air France, and Lufthansa.
You can also take the Danish public transit system (DSB) from Copenhagen Airport or Central Station straight with the so-called lightning train straight to Horsens Station, conveniently located in the city center.
Horsens has made parking easy with public parking on every corner. The first two hours are free. If you need a few more hours to conclude your shopping spree, paying for additional time is done either by credit card or through the EasyParks app. But don’t let the parking fee scare you from enjoying your RV rental Horsens as long as you want - it will only cost you 10 DKK per additional hour.
The Eastern coast of the Danish peninsula, Jutland offers miles and miles of sand, reed, fjords, and marinas from the German border all the way to the Northern tip, Skagen, where the oceans Kattegat and Skagerak meet. Just about halfway through this scenic drive up the Eastern shore lies Horsens.
The Danish weather can be summed up in a few words – unpredictable, but mild. In the summer months, the days are long and because of the humidity, even the average temperature of 22ºC will send you straight to the sandy shores. The best period to rent a campervan in Horsens starts in May. Jutland’s beech forests are draped in light green leaves and spring flowers. Paddling a rented canoe down the narrow streams of Gudenåen, you will experience some of Europe’s most luscious nature in full bloom.
But weather conditions change rapidly around this time, so the sun umbrella can quickly turn into much-needed shelter from the rain. Mid-Jutland receives more rain than anywhere else in Denmark, which makes most tourists delay their visit to the high of summer.
During the months of June and July, the beach Langelinie is full of happy families splashing in the blue waves, a good place to stay with your RV rental in Horsens. If you prefer a beach day with fewer sandcastles and pleads for ice cream, take a short walk down the shore to the less-visited Strandparken. This little summer paradise is within walking distance from Horsens city center.
In July and August, Horsens is buzzing with cultural and artistic happenings every weekend leading up to the pride of the event calendar - the Middle Age Festival the last weekend of August.
