The best time to rent a RV in California

Weather graph for average temperatures in LA
Average temperatures in California per month

California is located on the western coast of the US, bordering the Pacific Ocean, which makes it the perfect location to rent a RV. It lies in a subtropical climate zone, but the weather varies across the state thanks to its diverse landscape. Cities near the coast have milder climates, and the desert regions are the hottest.

One of the most convenient things about RV rental California is that, it experiences all four seasons. Summer is hot and sunny, with a range from 75-90°F (23-32°C), this tends to drive people towards the coastline. If you would like to enjoy the perfect weather for outdoor activities like hiking, visiting wineries, or surfing, the best time to visit California is during spring and fall. The weather is nicest, with an average range of 55-70°F (12-21°C). Moreover, winters can vary from cold to moderate, depending on where you are. It has a general trend between the temperatures 25-50°F (-3-10°C).

Now that we’ve learned California is a year-round travel spot, you can rent a RV and find seasonal travel destinations like Napa Valley, which is great any time of year. Another example is, Los Angeles during summer, with many people arriving to spend time at the beach or theme parks or Lake Tahoe, a year-round destination with hiking and boating in the summer but skiing in the winter.

We recommend planning your visit to California based on popular activities. It’s known for music festivals, like Coachella, Stagecoach, and Hard Summer, which happen in early summer along with the start of surf season. June and October offer the best time to visit Wine Country, where you can enjoy wine tasting tours. Last but not least, California is one of the best places to visit during the winter season, from November to April, because of its unique mountain scenery and downhill skiing.
