Campervan and RV Rental in Sicily

Campervan or RV rental in Sicily is a fantastic way to explore Italy's largest and most famous island. This rich, historic region is perfect if you're looking for a Mediterranean adventure involving warm weather, stunning landscape, and incredible wildlife in a campervan rental.

One of the best ways to experience this magical island is via our Sicily campervan Road Trip. Starting in Catania, you use your campervan rental to experience the coast, take in the capital Palermo, and explore the region's towns and sites.

Sicily National Parks

Sicily is home to some incredible national parks. Most of them are easily reached with a campervan or RV rental.

Parco Delle Madonie is on the North of the island. It has incredible mountain views and wildlife. Additionally, it has medieval castles and quiet historical villages.

The natural reserve of Cavagrande del Cassibile is another excellent park. Canyons, ravine walks, swimming, and amazing views are just a few of the attractions that keep visitors coming back.

Finally, it would be unfair to talk about national parks in Sicily and not mention the Etna park, which is home to Mount Etna, one of the world's most active volcanoes. Hikes, incredible views, and guided tours are just a taste of what's available at this remarkable place that is easily reached in a campervan or RV rental.

Sicily Coastlines, Lakes, and Rivers

The island of Sicily is naturally full of coastline that you can reach with a campervan or RV rental. The only issue is fitting it all in.

Some of the best coastal attractions are Vendicari and Lo Zingaro nature reserves. They're full of exciting plants and animals and make great options for campervan day trips.

The Reserve of the lakes of Marinello is unmissable. The white sands of the natural lagoon are breathtaking, and it's a terrific option for anyone looking for peace and tranquility. Further north, past Messina, you can find the lake of Ganzirri. It's a stunning destination for scenic picnics and bird-watching.

Sicily also has some great rivers you can reach by campervan or RV. The Alcantara River Park is a unique location to visit. It has some beautiful small beaches, gorges, and waterfalls. Some of the activities you can enjoy there are rafting, swimming, and scenic walks.

The river Dirillo is not only a river but also a  lake. It's an esteemed fishing spot due to a large concentration of trout, pike, and perch. A full-day excursion on the waterway can give you a taste of what Sicily offers. You can take in the majesty of the Hyblaean mountains. For anyone interested in prehistory and archeology, Mount Casasia and the municipality of Licodia Eubea are unbelievable places to visit.

Campgrounds in Sicily

Reading camping tips is a great way to get the most from your RV or campervan rental. If we had to give travelers just one piece of advice, it would be to book campgrounds ahead of time. Many of these sites get busy, and you want to be satisfied with somewhere to park your campervan or RV at night safely.

Sicily has lots of great campgrounds. If you plan on seeing Mount Etna — and why wouldn't you — Mons Gibel Camping Ground is a great option. Excellent facilities, friendly operators, and a great location are just some attractions.

Camping Valle dei Templi is situated to the west of the island. It's right by the beach and has excellent facilities. Just a few miles from the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, it's a perfect option for anyone visiting one of Sicily's most popular attractions.

Finally, if you're taking a trip to Parco delle Madonie, you should try Camping Sanfilippo. The quaint family-run site has excellent facilities, a small bar and market, and access to a private beach. What more could you want?
